Welcome! I’m Daman (pronounced The-mun).
I’m a strategy and systems-oriented designer, currently building intelligent systems and the Audio app for The New York Times.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with forward-thinking companies and organizations over the past few years.
01 — THE NEW YORK TIMES AUDIO APP
Building a destination for best in class audio-journalism.
New York Times Audio launched in May 2023 to over 10 million subscribers. I lead the conceptualization and execution of high impact features and pioneered standards for accessibility across the company.
02 — UNITED STATES DIGITAL RESPONSE
Streamlining data collection for a major U.S. city.
I led research and design on a 16-week engagement with a major U.S. city to improve data standardization and collection procedures, helping increase the availability of essential services like healthcare, public services, and shelter for individuals facing homelessness.
03 — BYTEBOARD
Designing CodeCollab — a collaborative live coding feature to improve onsite interviews.
I led the CEO and Head of Engineering through a multi-week sprint aimed at conceptualizing a collaborative live-coding tool for onsite engineering interviews.
04 — BOSE CONNECT APP
Developing ‘Press N’ Turn’ — a gesture-based volume control for Bose Frames.
05 — COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
Improving the state-wide COVID-19 contact tracing and response program.
I audited and created recommendations for improvement for a state-wide contract tracing system used by over 1300 tracers, and rapidly created white-labeled COVID response websites for use by other states spinning up tracing programs.
06 — AUDIO SUNGLASSES APP
Conceptualizing an end-to-end consumer product experience.
I led a full-scale design and discovery engagement involving branding, feature exploration, user research, and concept testing for a pioneer in consumer electronics.
07 — HARVARD GRADUATE SCHOOL OF DESIGN
Piers Park Connected: A Study of Mobility and Activation in East Boston.
My capstone project at the month-long design discovery program aimed to develop the East Boston waterfront with climate resilience and neighborhood preservation.
